GearLight S2000 LED Flashlight

GearLight S2000 LED flashlight is a very bright, relatively compact LED flashlight, suitable as an EDC flashlight but also for hiking, camping, hunting, and similar outdoor activities due to its robust body and resistance to dust, mud, and water.

GearLight S2000 LED flashlight is powered only by four AA batteries, and it doesn't accept lithium CR123A or 18650 batteries.

GearLight S2000 Features and Specifications

GearLight S2000 LED flashlight features physical dimensions of (L x d) 7.68 x 1.77 (1.33) inches (~19.5 x 4.5/3.4 cm), and it weighs ~375 grams - total weight depends on the battery used.

The body is made of anodized aluminum, ensuring strong and lightweight construction and resistance to water and various chemicals.

As said before, the unit is powered by 4 AA batteries which are not included. GearLight S2000 LED flashlight does NOT accept CR123A, 18650, or similar lithium rechargeable batteries.

But, since high-quality AA batteries have a shelf life of 5-10 years, some even more, the GearLight S2000 LED flashlight can be used as an excellent EDC battery and used at the moment's notice even after years of being stored.

GearLight S2000 LED flashlight comes with a single XM-L2 LED and delivers 1200 lumens of light.

Lenses are zoomable, allowing the user to set a wide light beam and focus the light beam on the object 1000 feet (~305 m) away.

Also, it comes with several light modes, easily controllable via a tail switch.

Note: when the unit is in the Low Mode, it can operate for 10+ hours using brand-new, high-quality AA batteries.

According to the manufacturer, the GearLight S2000 LED flashlight features an IPX4 water resistance level and can survive the drop from 10 feet (~3.05 m) height.

Personally, IPX4 is good enough for light rain and soma splashing water, but if You want to have a truly water-resistant LED flashlight, go for IPX7 or preferably IPX8 LED flashlight, which obviously costs much more.

GearLight S2000 Battery Replacement

GearLight S2000 uses 4 (four) AA batteries that can be replaced rather easily:

• unscrew the tail with the switch,
• take the battery holder out,
• replace old batteries with new ones,
• put the battery holder back in the flashlight,
• screw the tail with the switch back on the flashlight.

And that is all.

Click the tail switch and check if the flashlight functions properly.

Note: GearLight S2000 is a very simple flashlight with a simple driver which supports three light modes but which doesn't memorize the last mode used - the flashlight always starts with High Mode.

Long Story Short: If You are looking for a medium-sized, tough, and at the same time affordable flashlight that can fit your backpack, car's glove compartment, drawer, or similar, consider this model.

Since it doesn't support the use of rechargeable CR123A, 18650, or similar batteries, it is perhaps not the best choice for people that rely on and use their flashlights on a daily basis.

But, with 1200 lumens of light, zoomable lenses, IPX4 water resistance, 10 feet drop height, multiple operating modes, etc., it is one of the most popular best-buy models in its class.
