Westinghouse iGen2800c Power Generator Features and Specifications
Westinghouse iGen2800c inverter generator is powered by a 98cc 4-stroke OHV variable speed engine, ensuring 2200 Running Watts and 2800 Starting Watts (hence the "2800" as part of its label).
The fuel tank capacity is 0.98 gallons (~3.71 liters), ensuring up to 12h of runtime on a single full fuel tank @25% load (550W).
Note: While non-ethanol fuel (87-93 octane) is recommended, up to 10% ethanol in the gasoline is acceptable. However, E85 or E15 fuels should not be used.
The oil capacity is 11.8 oz - the unit uses SAE 10W-30 engine oil.
The starting system is a manual recoil combined with a manual choke. When the unit is maintained properly, the engine is easy to start.
To keep the use as safe as possible, Westinghouse iGen2800c comes with several safety features, including:
- overload warning,
- low-oil automatic shutdown,
- Carbon Monoxide (CO) automatic shutdown.
Westinghouse iGen2800c power generator's physical dimensions are (L x W x H) 19.8 x 11.4 x 17.9 inches (~50.3 x 29 x 45.5 cm), and it weighs 47.4 pounds (~21.5 kg) dry.
To help with transportation, the unit features a built-in carrying handle - just be aware that the unit weighs almost 50 pounds.
The unit features fully enclosed construction, keeping the noise levels very low @52 dBA, making it a very quiet power generator.
Westinghouse iGen2800c Control Panel
Unit's control panel is at the front of the unit and it features LED Data Center with automatic rotating display (remaining time, power output, fuel level, voltage, lifetime run hours), signal lights (low oil, overload, output ready), remaining fuel (0-100% scale) and power output (0-100% scale).
The control panel also features an engine/fuel switch, overload reset, parallel ports, power outlets, Eco Mode button, etc.
Note: Westinghouse iGen2800c power generator is relatively simple to use and maintain inverter power generator, but when it arrives, be sure to read the Owner's Guide/Manual thoroughly when the unit arrives before the very first run. Also, keep the manual near the unit, just in case.
Thanks to its inverter electronics, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) levels are ≤3%, and the power factor is 1, allowing the unit to directly power sensitive devices. Also, the unit supports so-called "Eco Mode," saving fuel, decreasing the noise, and prolonging the runtime on a single fuel tank.
Note: Eco mode allows the engine to spin at variable speeds demanded by the generator's load and should be used when powering smaller loads with constant power requirements, for example, lights, TVs, and similar. When powering large surge loads like tools, appliances, and similar, Eco mode should be turned off.
The list of receptacles is relatively short, and it includes:
- 1x Duplex 120V 20A AC (5-20R),
- 2x USB 5V 2.1A DC charging ports.
For more demanding situations, the Westinghouse iGen2800c power generator can be connected in parallel with any similar compatible Westinghouse power generator using either 30A or 50A Westinghouse parallel cords (sold separately).
Note: when connecting generators in parallel, turn off Eco modes on both units.

Westinghouse iGen2800c power generator comes with a 1-year limited commercial warranty and a 3-year limited residential warranty.
Westinghouse iGen2800c Power and Energy
Here is an example of the output power and energy level of the Westinghouse iGen2800c inverter generator.
The unit is used to power a 33A lithium battery charger with 90% energy efficiency and an average voltage output of 14.6V. Thus, the required power output is:
P(W) = 14.6V * 33A / 0.9 = ~536W
According to the manufacturer, the Westinghouse iGen2800c can provide 550W (25% of its nominal power) for up to 12h on a single 0.98-gallon fuel tank - that means that it can provide 536W for up to 12h easily.
Thus, during these 12h, Westinghouse iGen2800c can recharge:
Capacity (Ah) = 33A * 12h = 396Ah
the power generator can recharge the battery (or battery pack) of up to 400Ah at a rate of 33A.
Westinghouse iGen2800c vs. Westinghouse iGen2800 Inverter Generators
Westinghouse iGen2800c and Westinghouse iGen2800 are two very similar units, with the most important difference of Westinghouse iGen2800c (note the small letter "c") having a Carbon Monoxide sensor and automatic shutdown system.
Although such systems generally increase the price of power generators, the price difference is worth it.
Thus, if you are unsure which one to go for, consider Westinghouse iGen2800c, the model with Carbon Monoxide sensor and automatic shutdown system, and don't look back.
Long Story Short: If you are looking for a compact, robust, and durable power generator in the 2kW range, consider this unit.
Considering the quality of the unit and the features it provides, the price is rather acceptable.
Also, the Carbon Monoxide automatic shutdown system increases safety to a new level. Nonetheless, every power generator, with or without CO sensors, should be used only outside, according to the manufacturer's instructions.
