Renogy 3000W Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter Features and Specifications
Renogy 3000W Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter is a 12V power inverter - it is powered by a 12V battery (or batteries) and the unit provides 120V AC power which can be used to power a broad range of tools, appliances, devices, gadgets, etc.
The nominal, continuous output power is 3000 Watts with a surge output power of 6000 Watts.
Renogy 3000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter features a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) levels of:
- ≤3% Linear Load,
- ≤5% Non-linear Load.
The physical dimensions of the unit are 18.9 x 9.0 x 4.0 inches (~58 x 22.9 x 10.2 cm) and it weighs 12.5 pounds (~5.7 kg) - obviously, Renogy 3000W Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter is not a small and lightweight unit, but it is a 3000W power inverter unit ...
Renogy 3000W Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter features a manufacturer SKU of RNG-INVT-3000-12V-P2-US and features energy efficiency of >90%, which is a very good result, especially considering the unit price and all the features that come with it.
Output ports include a 5V/2.1A USB port, 3 AC Outlets, and 1 AC Terminal Block.
The list of safety features include:
- under-voltage and over-voltage protection,
- Low Battery Alarm: 10.5V ± 0.5V DC,
- High Voltage Alarm: 16V,
- Battery Low Shutdown: 10.0V ± 0.5V DC,
- Over Voltage Shutdown: 16.5V ± 0.5V DC.
- over-temperature protection,
- over-load protection,
- short circuit indication.
Also, the unit features active cooling fans and Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection.
The operating temperature range of the unit is between -4°F and +158°F (-20°C to +70°C) - although the temperature range is very broad, if possible, the unit should be kept at a room temperature in a well-ventilated area.
Renogy 3000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter also comes with a remote wired control unit with a cable length of 19.8 feet (~6m) - when the unit is turned On, its No Load Current Draw is <2.5A, so if the unit is not going to be used for some time, turn it Off.
The unit comes with a 1-year limited warranty.
Battery Requirement for the Renogy 3000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter
Since the Renogy 3000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter features continuous output power of 3000 Watts and surge power of 6000 Watts, and taking into account that it features energy efficiency of at least 90%, that means that the battery (or battery pack) must be able to provide:
I(A)= P(W) / U(V) = (3000W / 0.9) / 12V = ~278 Amps
I(A)= P(W) / U(V) = (6000W / 0.9) / 12V = ~556 Amps
So, the 12V battery must be able to provide at least ~280 Amps @12V for the unit to provide 3000 output watts. Also, the 12V battery must be able to provide at least ~560 Amps @12V for the unit to provide 6000 surge watts.
And these are some very serious currents - when connecting the battery to the inverter, use as thick cables as possible and position the inverter as close to the battery as possible.
In order to provide enough power combined with sufficient capacity, a large 12V 300Ah and 12V 400Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries are highly recommended - lead-acid batteries can provide the required output power, but they are heavy, suffer from strong capacity loss when discharged with strong currents, they don't cycle well as LiFePO4 batteries, etc.
The following comparison chart lists some of the most popular LiFePO4 deep cycle 300Ah and 400Ah 12V batteries with their most important features and specifications:

Although there are several models that may be used for creating a battery pack that is able to provide 280/560 Amps, perhaps the best models are:
Ampere Time 12V 300Ah Plus
Ampere Time 12V 300Ah Plus is able to provide 200A continuously and 400A for 5 seconds. Thus, two batteries in parallel are able to provide 400A continuously (>280 Amps) and 800A for 5 seconds (>560 Amps).
Also, such a battery pack would weigh only 126 pounds (~57.1 kg) and it would be able to provide 280 Amps for 2-2.1 hours, depending on the battery condition.
If a larger battery pack is required, Ampere Time 12V 300Ah Plus can be connected to up to four batteries in parallel. And if an even larger battery pack is required, one may use 2, 3, or 4 Ampere Time 12V 400Ah Plus batteries.
Similarly, one may use Chins 12V 300Ah/400Ah batteries, which is another, very popular, high-capacity, deep-cycle, LiFePO4 battery.
Note: when connecting lithium batteries in parallel and/or series, always connect the very same batteries (same brand, same model) from the same batch, as recommended by the manufacturer.
Long Story Short: If You are looking for a 3000/6000W pure sine wave power inverter, consider Renogy 3000W Pure Sine Wave Power Inverter.
It comes with numerous safety features, a wired remote control, a broad temperature range, low THD levels, etc., and can be used to directly power even very sensitive electronics.
But, it also requires a rather respectable battery pack if the unit is required to provide 2000-3000W for a longer period of time.
