Top 1000 Watt Pure Sine Wave Power Inverters
1000 Watt power inverters are a very popular inverter class commonly used to power various loads during emergencies, when camping, tailgating, etc. These loads include lights, smaller tools, and home appliances, various chargers, security and medical systems, etc.
1000 Watt power inverters are relatively affordable units - pure sine wave inverters do cost a little bit more than modified wave power inverters, but they can be used to power even sensitive devices and equipment, justifying the price difference.

Short Intro To 1000 Watt Power Inverters
As their label says, 1000 Watt power inverters feature continuous output power of ~1000 Watts, while the surge power varies from 1500W to 2000W, sometimes even more.
When looking for a 1000W power inverters, there are a few things to consider, including:
Input Voltages
Most 1000W power inverters are 12V units, designed to use 12V lead-acid and lithium deep cycle batteries.
But, since a 1000W power inverter with an energy efficiency of 85-95% requires ~1050-1180W (~87.5-98 Amps @12V) input power, in order to decrease the input currents, some brands also offer 24V, 36V, and even 48V 1000W power inverters.
Note: Surge power of 2000W @12V (effectively 2100-2360W) requires ~175-196 Amps and that requires rather thick cables in order to keep the energy losses at an acceptable level.
While most 1000W power inverters come with clamps, allowing the user to directly connect the power inverter to the 12V battery, some of the power inverters come with a car cigarette lighter adapter, limiting their output power to 100-120W.
Battery Capacity: Lithium vs. Lead Acid Batteries
When being discharged with strong currents, for example, 0.333C or stronger, lead-acid batteries suffer from capacity loss which can degrade battery performance significantly.
When the lead-acid batteries are being discharged for one hour, their actual capacity is only between ~55% and 70% of their nominal capacity.
On the other hand, lithium batteries feature almost no capacity loss when being discharged with currents up to 1C. However, lithium batteries feature a built-in Battery Management System (BMS) that protects the battery from unwanted events, including overcurrent situations - in mission-critical applications, if the lithium battery is not dimensioned properly, the BMS can disconnect the battery when most needed!
Since lithium batteries are 2-3x lighter than lead-acid batteries and since they support 8-10x more charging/discharging cycles, a properly dimensioned lithium battery (or battery pack) is a better choice than the heavy lead-acid batteries for applications that require lightweight batteries that cycle a lot.
But, for applications where a number of cycles and battery weight are not that important, but the battery must be able to withstand potential power glitches and similar, a good AGM of Gel-Cell battery is still a better choice.
In short, go for lithium batteries, except in very specific situations.

Battery capacity and voltage should be dimensioned depending on the individual requirements - some people require 1000W power inverters to operate for 10-15 minutes when required, and other people require such units to operate for hours...
Pure Sine Wave vs. Modified Sine Wave
Power inverters with AC output featuring pure sine wave can be used to power practically any AC load, ranging from resistive loads, tools, chargers, sensitive electronics, and similar.
Power inverters with a modified sine wave AC output can be used to power resistive loads, some tools, and non-sensitive appliances.
Modified sine wave power inverters are cheaper, but the actual price difference is not a big one - personally, go for a pure sine wave power inverter and don't worry about the sensitivity of the powered devices, tools, gadgets, appliances, and other loads that 1000 Watt power inverters can run.
Output Ports
In order to power AC devices, 1000 Watt power inverters feature one or more 120V AC ports.
Also, to help with charging USB-charged devices, many also feature one or more USB 5.0V charging ports.
Remote Control
1000 Watt power inverters, especially 12V models, draw strong currents which require thick cables. In order to decrease energy losses, power inverters are usually mounted as close to the batteries as possible, which can be an issue when having to turn the power inverter On/Off or to check the unit's condition.
Power inverters with remote control allow the user to turn the inverter On and Off and sometimes check the unit's condition without being physically close to the inverter - remote controls are usually in the form of wired control unit or WiFi/Bluetooth connection, allowing the user to manage the inverter via smartphone App.
Note: WiFi/Bluetooth connection and App control are more common in larger and stronger power inverters.
Safety Features
Power inverter safety features usually include overcurrent, overvoltage, under-voltage, short-circuit, overheat, reverse polarity, etc. protection built in the power inverter.
Also, power inverters should be protected using old-school fuses - software protection is a great thing, but if it fails, fuses will step in and protect both battery and power inverter.

1000 Watt Power Inverters Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Here are some of the most common Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about 1000W power inverters and power inverters in general:
What can a 1000W inverter power?
1000W power inverter can be used to power one or more devices with a total continuous power of 1000W or less. The surge power of power inverters varies, so before connecting devices, tools, and appliances with large starting wattage, check the actual wattage of each device.
For more about this topic, feel free to check our Boat, Camping, RV and Household Appliances Wattage Charts article.
How long will a 12-volt battery run a 1000 Watt inverter? How many batteries do I need for a 1000 Watt inverter?
This depends on the battery capacity, type, charge level, power inverter output power, and energy efficiency.
For example, if the 90% energy efficient 1000W power inverter provides 800W continuously, that means that it draws:
I = (800W/.90) / 12V = 74 Amps
from the battery.
If we have one large 12V 200Ah lithium battery, that means that such battery can power the power inverter for:
T(h) = 200Ah / 74A = ~2.7h

How much does a 1000 Watt inverter cost?
Cheaper modified sine wave power inverters can be found under 100 US$, while more expensive pure sine wave power inverters are usually in the 120-200 US$ range, sometimes even more, depending on the features.
Can a 1000W inverter run a fridge?
Generally, yes, 1000W power inverters can run household refrigerators, especially newer, more energy-efficient models.
For more about this topic, feel free to check our Off-the-Grid: How Many Watts Does a Refrigerator Use? article.
Will a 1000 Watt power inverter run a space heater?
Since most space heaters feature nominal wattage in the 1500+ Watt range, a 1000W power inverter is not able to power such a load.
If the space heater features controls that can decrease its power requirements to below 1000W, then a 1000W power inverter will be able to power such a unit - but, as soon as the power of the space heater is increased, the safety features of the power inverter will shut off the power inverter.
In short: If You have a 1500+W space heater, do NOT try to power it using a 1000W power inverter.
Few Final Words
Modern 1000W pure sine wave power inverters are easy and safe to use devices. When such a device arrives, be sure to thoroughly read the Owner's Guide/Manual in order to get accustomed to your new unit.
Many different brands offer power inverters in the 1000W range and our list contains only a small fraction of what can be found on the market - but these are excellent units, each one with its own pros and cons, so choose according to your own needs and requirements.
If unsure about the model, go for Renogy 1000W power inverter and stop looking any further. If a little bit stronger model is needed, Giandel 1200W power inverter is an excellent choice.
And whatever You do, stay safe ...
