VMAXTANKS 6 Volt 225Ah AGM Battery
VMAXTANKS 6 Volt 225Ah AGM Battery is one of the best buys deep cycle AGM batteries, suitable for use as solar or wind turbine battery, RV battery, golf cart battery, electric trolling battery, etc.
It features long Float Service Life (up to 8 to 10 years), but thanks to heavy-duty lead-tin alloy, it is a very durable battery with long service life in either float or cyclic applications, even after repeated over discharges - which should be nonetheless avoided as much as possible, of course.

VMAXTANKS V6-225 Battery Features and Specifications
VMAXTANKS V6-225 battery nominal voltage is 6V - it consists of 3 cells, unlike most of the Sealed Lead-Acid (SLA) Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) batteries, which consist of 6 cells featuring 12V nominal voltage.
Since this is an SLA AGM battery, it is practically a maintenance-free, spill-proof battery.
VMAXTANKS V6-225 battery 20h capacity is rated at 225 Ah - that means that this fully charged battery at 80°F (~25°C) can supply 11.25 Amps for 20 hours without voltage falling below 10.5V.
Reserve capacity is rated at 500 minutes - that means that this, fully charged battery at 80°F (~25°C), can deliver 25Amps and maintain at least 10.5V of voltage for 500 minutes (8 hours and 20 minutes).
VMAXTANKS V6-225 battery weighs 72 pounds (~32.6 kg), with the physical dimensions of (L x W x H) 9.5 x 7.3 x 11 inches (~24.1 x 18.5 x 28 cm).
The battery belongs to the BCI GC2 group, although one should check first if these batteries can fit in the desired battery compartment.
How To Charge VMAXTANKS V6-225 Batteries
Recommended charging current is between 15 and 55 Amps, while recommended charging voltage is 7.2-7.35 volts per battery.
In float applications, float voltage should be kept between 6.6 V and 6.9 V.
These batteries should be charged using the following:
- any quality smart microprocessor controlled AGM charger with the recommended specifications, like VMAXTANKS BC1215 and/or BC1220 (for 12V banks).
- solar panels and wind turbines in the 175W-450W range, although 120W panels and turbines may be used if the depth of discharge is not below 50%.
Note: never use a battery charger with smaller amperage than the recommended one. Also, battery maintainers should only be used to maintain a fully charged battery or battery pack but never as a battery charger.
Charging the batteries with lower currents can shorten their operating life. Since good lead acid battery charger costs perhaps half the price of one of these batteries, it is a very smart investment.
Storage and discharge temperature range is between -4 and 140°F (-20 and 60°C), and the charge temperature range is between 14 and 140°F (-10 and 60°C).
Note: the battery charger should use temperature compensation/sensor in order not to overcharge the batteries during summer and not to undercharge the batteries during winter.
VMAXTANKS V6-225 Battery Packs
VMAXTANKS V6-225 can be connected in series and parallel to create battery packs of various voltages and capacities.
In golf cart and RV applications, 6 or 8 batteries can be connected in series to provide 36 or 48V battery packs. Such a 225 Ah battery pack can provide a long operating range for golf carts on a single battery charge. In RV applications with 36 or 48V electrical systems, a 225Ah house battery pack can power various appliances while being off the grid.
In marine applications, four batteries can be connected in parallel/series to form a 12V 450 Ah battery or in series to form a 24V 225 Ah battery. Such battery pack can power boat electrical systems for a really long time while being away from the harbor without starting the main engine(s) to charge the battery pack. Also, as the electric trolling motor battery, such battery pack can power, for example, Newport Vessels 86lb Thrust NV-Series (24V, 48 Amps max.) electric trolling motor for at least 4 hours at full throttle.
In off-the-grid applications, four batteries can be connected to form a 12V 450 Ah battery pack, which can be charged by combining solar panels, wind turbines, and power generators using a smart battery charge controller and which can be used for powering all desired appliances. Such a new, fully charged battery pack can supply 270W for 20 hours continuously.
VMAXTANKS V6-225 Battery vs. VMAXTANKS MR197-200
VMAXTANKS MR197-200 is a 12V 200Ah deep cycle AGM battery. Their main features are given in the following table:
Model | Battery Type | Group Size | Cell Type | Ah | MCA | RC | Weight (lbs/kg) |
VMAXTANKS MR197-200 | Deep Cycle | 4D | AGM | 200 | 1400 | 450 | 112 lbs; 50.7 kg |
VMAXTANKS V6-225 | Deep Cycle | GC2 (6 Volts) | AGM | 225 | - | 500 | 72 lbs, 32.6 kg |
Note: Amazon affiliate links in the table open in the new windows.
As one can see, VMAXTANKS MR197-200 is a heavier unit, but again it is a 12V battery, while VMAXTANKS V6-225 battery is 6V unit.
When two VMAXTANKS V6-225 batteries are connected in series, they create a 12V 225Ah battery pack, which is:
- heavier than a single MR197-200 battery (144 pounds vs. 112 pounds),
- has a larger 20Ah capacity (225 Ah vs. 200 Ah),
- has a better RC rating (500 vs. 450 minutes).
Obviously, if you are replacing GC2 batteries in your, for example, RV vehicle, you have to go for the batteries that fit into the battery compartment.
But, if you can fit both two VMAXTANKS V6-225 or a single MR197-200 battery, then:
- if you need dual purpose battery/battery pack, go for VMAXTANKS MR197-200,
- if you need a deep cycle battery/battery pack and you don't mind a slightly larger weight, go for two VMAXTANKS V6-225 batteries.

VMAXTANKS V6-225 battery is a very balanced battery, offering good performance at an acceptable price.
When compared with newer Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries, the VMAXTANKS V6-225 battery is heavier and can't withstand the number of charging/discharging cycles that lithium batteries can.
But, since lithium batteries feature Battery Management Monitors (BMS), which protect the batteries from unwanted events (a must-have feature for lithium batteries), any power glitch can cause BMS to shut off the battery from the system.
In the case of mission-critical systems, VMAXTANKS V6-225 battery can easily withstand power glitches and continue to provide power.
Long Story Short: VMAXTANKS V6-225 battery is a versatile and durable group GC2 6V 225 Ah battery. It can be used in 6V systems but can also form battery packs of various voltages and capacities.
It is a robust battery both internally and externally, and it can withstand plenty of use and abuse - treat them carefully, and they will serve you reliably for a long time.
