VMAXTANKS MR-107, MB-107 and SLR-85 are BCI Size 24, AGM SLA deep cycle batteries.

These batteries feature nominal capacity of 85 Ah and nominal voltage of 12 volts. Physically they are very similar, but nonetheless, they also differ in several very important details depending on their intended purpose.

VMAXTANKS MR-107, MB-107 and SLR-85 Features and Specifications

Physical dimensions of the VMAXTANKS MR-107, MB-107 and SLR-85 batteries are (W x D x H) 10.2 x 6.6 x 8.2 (8.5 with terminal posts) inches and they weigh 55 pounds (~24.9 kg).

Due to their dimensions, these batteries belong to the BCI Group 24 and come with a pair of foldable handles for easier carrying.

VMAXTANKS MR-107, MB-107 and SLR-85 are Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries that are designed to be spill-proof, with minimum maintenance during their lifetime.

Their nominal capacity (20h capacity) is 85 Ah and their nominal voltage is 12 volts (6-cell AGM SLA batteries).

VMAXTANKS MR-107, MB-107 and SLR-85 batteries can be charged with:

- any smart AGM battery charger that can provide charging currents in the recommended range (5 - 25 Amps).

- vehicle and boat 14-15 volts alternator,

- solar panel and wind turbine in the 135 and 350 watts range. Note: SLR-85 (also often labeled as SLR85) can be charged using 90 watts solar panel if the Depth of Discharge (DoD) does not exceed 50%.

By using smart AGM battery chargers that monitor battery condition, charge it properly and maintain the charge, VMAXTANKS MR-107, MB-107 and SLR-85 batteries can easily achieve their advertised float service life span of 8-10 years.

Note: SLA AGM battery maintainers should be used only to maintain fully charged batteries.

VMAXTANKS MR-107 AGM Battery

mr 107VMAXTANKS MR-107 AGM battery is often labeled as MR107-85, or just MR107.

VMAXTANKS MR-107 AGM battery is general purpose deep cycle, high performance battery that can be used even as starting/cranking battery.

It features Reserve Capacity of 160 minutes, which is slightly lower than MB-107 RC (170 min) and SLR-85 RC (190 min), but it features 700 Amps MCA and 1380 Amps PHCA (for 3 seconds).

Its recommended use are backup and alarm systems, as trolling motor battery, as main battery in smaller boats that have single battery electrical system, as electrical vehicle battery (current dependent) etc.

VMAXTANKS MB-107 AGM Battery

mb 107VMAXTANKS MB-107 AGM battery, also known as MB107-85, or just MB107, features Reserve Capacity of 170 minutes, which is 10 minutes longer than MR107-85 battery.

VMAXTANKS MB-107 AGM Battery is intended for similar applications like MR-107 battery, but for slightly weaker currents.

Although it is described as 'Medical Battery' it can be used not only as wheelchair battery, but practically for all applications like like MR-107, just be aware of the currents.

VMAXTANKS SLR-85 AGM Battery

slr 85VMAXTANKS SLR-85 AGM battery is intended for low Amps applications - it features the best RC value of 190 minutes, which is 20 minutes better than MB-107 and 30 minutes than MR-107 battery.

However, VMAXTANKS SLR-85 battery should NOT be used as starting battery, not even for very short periods. Such use can significantly shorten operating life of this (and any other similar solar battery).

If you are looking for good and affordable SLA AGM battery for solar, off-the-grid and similar applications (for example, as deep discharge battery in two-battery electrical systems on the boats, RVs and similar), consider SLR-85 battery.

Also, if you have backup or alarm system or trolling motor that requires less than 25 Amps, this battery is IMHO better option than MR-107 or MB-107 batteries.

In real life, their operating life depends on the number and depth of discharges, quality of the charger, temperature and similar.

On average these batteries can withstand ~280 cycles down to 100% DoD, ~460 cycles down to 80% DoD, ~680 cycles down to 50% DoD etc. before experiencing capacity drop down to 80% of nominal (85 Ah) capacity.
