DeWalt DCB615 FLEXVOLT 20V/60V MAX Battery Features and Specifications
Like other FLEXVOLT 20V/60V batteries, the DeWalt DCB615 FLEXVOLT battery is designed to configure itself automatically according to the tool being used. As such, the battery can power:
- all 20V MAX tools: 20V max., 18V nominal, 15Ah configuration,
- all 60V MAX tools: 60V max., 54V nominal, 5Ah configuration,
- all 120V MAX tools (2x DCB615 batteries): 120V max., 108V nominal, 5Ah configuration.
Last time we checked, the DeWalt DCB615 FLEXVOLT battery consists of 30 (thirty) Samsung INR18650 batteries, ensuring excellent performance and longevity in a relatively "compact" package.
The physical dimensions of the battery are (L x W x H) 7.56 x 3.81 x 4.38 inches (~19.2 x 9.7 x 11.1 cm) and it weighs ~4.5 pounds (~2.03 kg).
Single DeWalt DCB615 FLEXVOLT battery features a nominal voltage of 18V, a maximum voltage of 20V when charging, and a nominal capacity of 15Ah.
Thus, the battery is able to store ~270Wh of energy, while a pair of batteries connected in series (120V max, 108V nominal) provides ~540Wh of energy.
The DeWalt DCB615 FLEXVOLT battery features an over-molded pack designed to be resistant to vibrations and mechanical impacts. Also, the battery comes with a 3-LED fuel gauge, allowing the user to check the remaining battery charge easily.
The DeWalt DCB615 FLEXVOLT battery comes with an intelligent Battery Management System (BMS) which monitors the parameters of the battery and prevent unwanted events, prolonging the battery lifetime.
How To Charge The DeWalt DCB615 FLEXVOLT Battery
The DeWalt DCB615 FLEXVOLT battery supports the use of 20V MAX compatible battery chargers.
However, it is highly recommended to charge them with DeWalt rapid battery chargers.
For example, 4-Port DeWalt DCB104 20V MAX Rapid Lithium Battery Charger (Amazon link, opens in the new window) can charge four batteries simultaneously with 8 Amps per battery - even such a battery charger requires ~120 minutes to recharge the DeWalt DCB615 battery fully.
Long Story Short: The DeWalt DCB615 FLEXVOLT battery is not a small, light, and cheap battery, but it stores plenty of energy and is able to deliver that energy even to the strongest cordless tools and appliances - what You pay is what You got.
Smaller, handheld 20V MAX and 60V MAX tools are also compatible with the DeWalt DCB615 FLEXVOLT battery, but this battery is larger and heavier than the tools themselves - for such tools, smaller and lighter DeWalt FLEXVOLT 20V/60V MAX batteries are recommended.
The DeWalt DCB615 FLEXVOLT battery comes with a 3-year limited warranty.
